The Lord Our Protector

We are definitely facing difficult times in our world and nation.   These difficulties try to steal the truth that we are protected and secure in the hands of our mighty God!  The tribulations that seem to be everywhere try to make one feel helpless and weak.  Quite the contrary, we are not weak or helpless but according to the word of God we have more for us than are against us.

In the now famous eighties, President Ronald Reagan went to Russia with a team of negotiators to deal with the Russians on the subject of nuclear weapons.  Because of the nature of the talks and the distrust that existed between the two countries the American team took with them a structure called, at that time, “The Bubble”.  The bubble was a clear bubble that allowed our team to go inside and talk freely without the possibility of any of the Russians hearing them even with their advanced listening devices.  Once inside they were free to make plans without the enemy knowing anything about it.  Reagan was successful and America once again stayed ahead of her enemies.

As born again Christians we have some awesome promises that let us know that we too are in a “Bubble” of sorts.  When the enemy comes in like a flood the Spirit of the Lord raises up a stronghold or place of refuge where we have the privilege of entering into safety.

As an example, one of the greatest Kings of Israel, King David, faced difficulties but came through them victorious in his God.  He faced multiple assassination attempts from the King, he faced death at the hand of his own son, he was banished from his home and chased like a wild animal.  David made it through by leaning on the only security he could find in his troubles.  The faithfulness and love of almighty God.  Listen to his words.

2Samuel 22:3-4 my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. 4 I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.

Wow!  What a man of faith!  His inspiration should pass to us as well.  We face difficulties and some are extreme.  Yet, when we lean on God we are secure and safe.  I have been given some scriptures that David wrote in the Psalms to back this up.  Listen as you read.

Psalm 46:1   God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 91:1-3   He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.

This is so powerful that it takes away the fear and replaces it with faith and hope.  If you are dealing with fear and have lost your hope, there is a place that you can go to find security.  Jesus Christ is the answer for this world.  Politics will never figure out a way to peace because there is only one way for it to come about.  When the heart is changed from fear to faith and the spirit of man is changed from hopelessness to great hope for his future then and only then will we see peace.  Real peace comes when Jesus fills us with his presence and calms our fears and imparts hope. He gave us this truth in the Gospel of John.

John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.

Awesome?  It sure is!  I have two more scriptures to share and I’m done.

Isaiah 41:10  fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

1John 5:18  We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.

May God bless you richly and I hope you have received the truth that will make you free!  Feel free to comment and see you next month! If you would like to become a subscriber just click on the link.  Shalom!
