Two Free Book Offers

September 27, 2008

Greetings!

October is soon to be here and the evenings of sitting by the fire or drinking a cup of hot cocoa are not that far off.  I love this time of year don’t you?  As the fall season approaches we wanted to make a push for more weekly newsletter subscriptions.  For everyone who signs up now through the month of October we will be giving away free a copy of the book “Bible Wines” written by Rev. William Patton.  Over a hundred years ago this minister saw the devastating effects of alcohol use in his society.  Many thought that the Bible condoned the use of it, that Jesus himself drank it and even served it to his disciples at the last supper.  This eye opening book reveals through much research and Biblical references the truth on this subject.  Only fifty copies available with this offer.  One per subscription.

If that doesn’t catch your fancy we will also be giving away a free copy of “The Truth Shall Make You Free” written by yours truly.  This seventy-four page book outlines who Jesus is and what his mission and teachings were concerning salvation and other issues.  It is written with questions at the end of each chapter so you can use it as a study guide too.  Fifty of these will be available also.  Tell all of your friends and family to come and join up with the free Focus on Freedom weekly newsletter family.  You may sign up here or at the main site on the right hand side down at the bottom where the link appears.  Once you have signed up and verified we will need is a short note telling us which book you would like and where to send it.  You can do this at freedomconnect@sbcglobal.net .

On another note, we are receiving many inquiries about the experience called the baptism of the Holy Ghost.  I believe that many today are hungry for this experience and want to know the truth.  Rest assured, the Bible is not confusing when it speaks on this subject, neither is it hard to understand.  I have written a study titled “What Does It Mean To Receive The Holy Ghost?” to address this very issue.  I would like to say that many are receiving this powerful and wonderful experience today.  Some confusion however has arisen on this subject.  Questions like, “Do I receive the Spirit at baptism?”, “Am I filled with the Holy Ghost when I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ?” and “Is speaking in tongues just a gift of the Spirit that is only for a select few?”.  These and other questions are covered in this lesson.  Simply click on the link and you’ll be there!

We pray your week is blessed as you focus on freedom through HIM!

Sincerely

Economic Trouble Ahead for America

September 20, 2008

Economically speaking we have had quite a week!  The stock markets were poised to experience a complete meltdown as one analyst put it because of the terrible situation in the housing market.  To date the government is ready to inject Trillions of dollars to bail out the situation.  Whatever your feelings are on the subject it probably has sent jitters down your spine to think of America getting this close to bankruptcy.  To make it even more dire, all of the bailout is going to come from borrowed money!  Imagine, getting so far into debt that you have to borrow to get out of trouble with no way to pay any of it back?  Who will we borrow this money from?  Well, one of the would be lenders has stepped forward wanted to get involved, Communist China.  That’s right, China is interested in buying the loans for American householders.

Many people are asking, “What should we do?”  Is there a plan that we can get involved in that will help us through this troublesome time?  Of course the “Truth” always comes to us from the Bible, the Word of God.  He has given us a way to be free from financial burdens and an endless cycle of borrowing.  While the world is living today on the hopes that tomorrow will provide a payoff somehow God has a plan for those who want to opt out of the system and go the way of freedom.  Did you know that borrowing brings us into a bondage of sorts.

“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7 (KJV)

I owe, I owe, so off to work I go, is the drumbeat of America whether in individual homes or the White House.  One commentator said that borrowing is the “lifeblood of our economy”.  That sounds scary to me for some day we will have to pay it all back.  Add to this the fact that 50% of all divorces can be traced back to financial troubles and you can easily see the trouble that this taskmaster brings.  God, on the other hand wants us to be free from this kind of bondage so we can enjoy life and not be under the burden of financial woes.

I have written a study on this very subject titled “Financial Freedom” which will help you or a friend better understand the path of freedom from financial bondage.  Can you imagine what it would be like to be debt free?  Sound impossible?  Well, it isn’t and there is a way out for you.  It is God’s will to make us free and that’s what Focus on Freedom is about too.  There is another study titled “Borrowing Money” that may be of help.  I would greatly appreciate it if you would leave a comment after you have gone through the study and let me know what you think about it.

Thanks to all of you for being a part of the weekly newsletter family.   We want it to grow even more.  I would be thrilled if you would help by sending this to a friend or family member and encourage them to sign up.  You must go through the few steps to verify your subscription.  Take the time and I know it will be a blessing.

Sincerely

The Power Of Your Tongue

September 6, 2008

Did you know that you have the power to give life or death?  That’s right.  No, I don’t mean literally but the fact is, each of us do have that kind of power.  This power can heal or hurt.  It can build up or tear down and it can quench a fire or fan the flame.  The power I’m talking about is the power of your tongue.  Commonly referred to as the little red devil behind the white pearly gates.  Although it can be a little red devil it can also be a God send.  The choice is ours.  The Bible, God’s Word, has something to say about this.  “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.” Proverbs 21:23 (KJV)  In other words, when we keep quiet at the appropriate time we are sparing ourselves lots of trouble.

Here’s another one.  “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.” Proverbs 17:28 (KJV)  Did you know that you can impress people as being wise (even if you aren’t) by holding your peace?

One more for good measure!  “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Proverbs 25:11 (KJV)  Doesn’t that sound good?  I have put together a study titled “The Power of the Tongue” to help you gain insight into this member of our body and how to control it.  If you or someone you know is having troubles in this area, forward this to them.  They may thank you for it later and if we would all begin to use our tongues for good our world would certainly become a better place!

Thanks so much for being a part of the newsletter family.   We are wanting it to grow even more than it has.  I would be thrilled if you would help me by sending this to a friend or family member and encourage them to sign up.  If you are blessed by it I’m sure they will too!  Thanks again.

Sincerely

HAVE YOUR PARENTS DROPPED THE BALL?

September 2, 2008

Greetings!

Do you know someone who has  been done wrong by their parents?  Now I’m not talking about the rules and restrictions that good parents should place upon their children because it is reasonable and right for them to do that.  What I’m talking about is a parent that has mistreated their child by abandoning them, physically or sexually abusing them or using hurtful words on a regular basis.  I suppose the list could go on.  You probably know someone that has experienced this.  At the least we have all heard the stories of such abuse and to the normal person it makes the blood boil and the pressure go upward.  We along with the victim cry out, “WHY?”

Because of these abuses, emotional disorders dominate a segment of our society and are thought to be incurable.  Much of the crime in America and the world at large is perpetrated by those who were abused themselves when they were young.  Statistics tell us that a high percentage of prison inmates were told by their parents, “Some day you’re going to end up in prison.”  What else was told to the little ones that they dutifully carried out?  The good news is that what man says is incurable is totally curable by God!

When we look at this from HIS perspective we see another way to go which brings peace and freedom.  The Bible does have insight into this dilemma.  In the study titled “My Parents Dropped The Ball, Is There Hope For Me?” two stories unfold of two young men in different situations and how they handled them.  One was ignored and named “Empty Vanity” by his parents, the other was named “Stupid”.  One went on to be blessed of God and was in the blood line of Jesus Christ and the other self destructed and went to an early grave as a bitter man.

Each of us have little power over the things that others have done to us but there is one thing we do have power over, OUR ATTITUDE!  Along with the right direction and positive input you can experience the right output.  The input I am speaking of is the Bible the word of truth.  Through God and his word you can gain a new perspective on your situation and ultimately find the way out of it.  There is hope and freedom for each of us!  Jesus said this, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (KJV)  Sound good?  It is!

Thanks so much for being a part of the newsletter family.   It is an honor to have you with us.  If you enjoy it tell a friend and remember, God loves you and has already made a plan for your happiness.

Sincerely
